Are task was a 90 second short for Depict!
( Depict is open to short films of all production techniques, including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist film and hybrid work)
- Are idea was to have a single peso who was going speed dating and had a bad experience with multiple different kinds of people
We had to complete various pre-production documents such as:
- Location recces.
- Location releases.
- Talent releases.
- Budget sheet.
- Prop/costume list.
- Shot list.
- Storyboards.
- Script.(it changed multiple times)
- Risk assessment.
- Production schedules.
Are planning did have changes throughout the filming, most notably the script which was pretty much abandoned as we realised it would be far to long and wouldn't fit into 90 seconds and even are massively reduced script we had to cut bits out to fit it into the 90 seconds. All the characters that were planned for stayed the same except from the boring person as it just didn't fit so got switched out for a gangster kind of character as it was more inline with the vision we had.
I think that the lighting is the best part of our 90 second short I think that the best lighting manipulation was created by accident when a light was having some malfunctioned then we realised that it would make a real nice shot so we quickly took some inspiration from the joker scene and made are own on the spot and it ended up working really well and created a nice change to the already nice uniform lighting. If I was going to do this again I would make the video have more angles just to add a bit of interest and to just switch up simple style that we ended up with.
The thing that I enjoyed most was learning on how to use all the equipment and learning the editing software properly. Their wasn't anything that I really disliked about the projects that were not problems that we created with scripts even if the equipment problems was a bit annoying.
